Copy stand photography can be requested by students or instructors looking to create images of large, 2D works. The copy stand is able to photograph a larger surface than the flatbed scanners (up to 22 x 22 inches). It works well for digitizing posters, maps, diagrams or other materials larger than the 12.2 in x 17.2 in flatbeds. Email visualresources@uchicago.edu to request images to be made using the copy stand.
The copy stand uses a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV camera. Black velvet fabric is provided for a background, and a color bar can be included in photographs for quick and accurate color-correcting in Lightroom. The following lenses are available for use:
- EFS 24-105mm f/4L IS USM (standard zoom lens)
- Canon Compact Macro Lens EF 50mm with B+W 52mm XS-Pro Kaesemann High Transmission Circular Polarizer MRC-Nano Filter (reduces reflections)
