Request the VRC to Make Images for Your Research or Teaching
The VRC creates and sources high-quality digital images for your teaching and research! Instructors and students in the Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, and Divinity may use the order forms below to request images. All digital images and film clips are delivered through the LUNA database.
Book Space in the VRC Lab to Digitize Your Work
Current Humanities students, instructors, faculty, and staff are eligible to request VRC Lab appointments to use select equipment and software to digitize image-based materials in support of their research, course projects, and teaching. The VRC does not support text digitization projects. Unfortunately, the VRC cannot support Lab access for alumni or others not affiliated with the University.
Access to the VRC Lab is by appointment only. Appointments are based on equipment and staff availability.
To request an appointment, email us at visualresources@uchicago.edu with as much information as you can share about your project, including the items you need to digitize, their size, and quantity.
Additional Services
Please email visualresources@uchicago.edu if you are unable to find images or would like further assistance in finding sources. The VRC can inquire with museums, artists, and galleries for images held in their collections on your behalf.
The VRC can help instruct students in searching for images through individual reference help or classroom instructional sessions. Please see the Customized Instructional Sessions and Workshops page for details on what the VRC can offer.
If you are planning on photographing in the field and would like to consult about photography techniques, equipment, editing, or storing your images, please email visualresources@uchicago.edu.
