Request the VRC to Make Images for Your Research or Teaching

The VRC is happy to create or source digital images for your teaching and research! Instructors and students in the Humanities may use the order forms below. All digital images and film clips are delivered through the LUNA database.

The VRC uses the following equipment to digitize the images you request for your teaching, research, and publication projects:

  • CopiBook
  • Negative Supply Film Scanner
  • Copy Stand
  • Large format flatbed scanners

Book Space in the VRC Lab to Digitize Your Work

The VRC Lab makes select equipment and software available for instructor and student use by appointment only. For information on equipment, policies, and reservations available to student and instructor users, please review the Imaging Lab guidelines.

Camera Lending

The VRC makes several cameras including 4 DSLRs and 1 document camera available to Art History instructors and students via short-term loan. For more information, please read about the VRC’s Camera Lending Program, the available equipment and our policies.

Additional Services

Please email visualresources@uchicago.edu if you are unable to find images or would like further assistance in finding sources. The VRC can inquire with museums, artists, and galleries for images held in their collections on your behalf.

The VRC can help instruct students in searching for images through individual reference help or classroom instructional sessions. Please see the Customized Instructional Sessions and Workshops page for details on what the VRC can offer.
