Logan Center Shop

Materials are intended largely for DoVA undergrad students to purchase for class assignments, though scrap material is readily available. Please contact Peter Reese (Shop Manager) with any questions.

Wood

  • BC plywood (.5” and .75”) - lower grade than AC, contains more knots and whorls
  • AC plywood (.5” and .75”)
  • Medium density fibreboard (.5” and .75”)
  • 10’ 2x4s are always on hand
  • Baltic Birch plywood (.5” and .75”)
  • 1x8 poplar exclusively for building painting stretchers
  • rotating group of hardwoods that are available for purchase: oak, maple, ash, mulberry, elm, and honey locust

  • John Maloof Collection of Vivian Maier circa 1900-2010: still and motion picture cameras, lenses, filter, and other camera accessories, as well as period boxes that had been used to store her photographic prints before the latter were added to the collection.   • Principes de fabrique pour les étoffes de soie 1848-1856: Manuscript study on the weaving, design, and production of silk fabric. Illustrated with charts, pattern templates, and fabric samples, pasted onto heavy cream paper.
  • Théorie de la fabrication des étoffes de soie 1855-1860: Manuscript study on various types of silk fabrics. Illustrated with 385 drawings of various weaves, and 101 fabric samples, pasted onto heavy cream paper.
  • Friedrich Klebs, Zürcherische Seidenwebschule : I Curs : Composition & Décomposition 1888-1889: Loose-leaved pattern book in Swiss-German on the design and production of silk fabric. Includes "Einzuge": hand-drawn, colored charts of jacquard weaves with manuscript explanation; and "Decomposition": 103 samples of silk fabric with manuscript explanation.
