Join the VRC, Alice Casalini, Savannah Esquivel PhD'20, and Zhenru Zhou PhD'23 for a hybrid workshop on publishing images in articles, dissertations, and beyond. This is the first iteration of what will be an annual workshop open to anyone planning and preparing to publish art history scholarship.This workshop will offer:
- Case study presentations by Zhenru Zhou, Alice Casalini, and Savannah Esquivel on their work with custom images
- A look at fair use, copyright, and permissions for art and architecture images for your own photographs and images from other sources
- Assessing image sources and image quality, approaches to editing your field images, and creating custom images that help visualize and articulate your research.
- An introduction to image captions, citational ethics, and other ethical considerations for publishing and circulating images
- Personal archiving strategies that can help manage the logistics of publishing images
This workshop isn’t prescriptive! We will present different options to encourage strategies that can work for you.
