Web Archiving

Web archiving captures and preserves web pages and associated content as it appears at a point in time. This is useful for capturing materials that only exist online, web pages that are edited over time, or are unable to be downloaded to a hard drive. Note that web archiving is not a stand-in for back-up copies of a website. You might wish to archive web projects you work on or to archive online copies of your writing.

Conifer

Conifer archives webpages, including linked pages and media, on their online platform. This method is free and has 5GB of available storage. Archived webpages are only available to the individual user.

Wayback Machine

Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine makes archived webpages available to the public, and can still be found through search engines. Wayback Machine is free for users. Note that this method only saves one page at a time.

Open-Source Tools

An extensive list of open-source tools for web archiving is available through the International Internet Preservation Consortium. These methods require a bit more tech savvy than the outlined methods.
