Publishing Your Work(shop): Images for Articles and Dissertations is open to all members of the UChicago art history community interested in and preparing to publish images in articles, dissertations, and beyond. It will offer a comprehensive look at strategies for navigating decisions about permissions, embargoes, and more, along with practical resources for selecting and preparing images for publication, including: 

  • A look at fair use, copyright, and permissions for art and architecture images for your own photographs and images from other sources
  • Assessing image sources and image quality, approaches to editing your field images,  and creating custom images that help visualize and articulate your research.
  • An introduction to image captions, citational ethics, and other ethical considerations for publishing and circulating images
  • Personal archiving strategies that can help manage the logistics of publishing images
